DIY Embroidered ‘Fall Favorites’ Banner

Today I have the sweetest little fall DIY to share with you! When I decorate for fall I find myself leaning toward more rustic decorations. I think it probably has something to do with the pumpkins and hay bales and other farming-life things we associate with fall. So I decided to make a fun little fall project that would fit my rustic decor and came up with embroidered wall hanging! Here’s how I did it:

Supplies:
Embroidery hoop
Embroidery thread
Needle
Fabric
Dowels
Rope/string

1. Dream up your design! Or find one you love online, purchase it, and trace away onto your fabric. Mine is sort of a hybrid of other fall-list prints I have seen around. When I am writing on the fabric I like to use crayon because it glides really smoothly and will pretty much wipe off after you are done.

2. Get to stitching! I used this great set of tutorials for help with trying out new stitches. I am NO embroidery expert so these helped me a lot.

3. Cut the fabric to the length and width you would like when hung, leaving some space for when the dowels are attached.

4. Roll the ends of the fabric around the dowels and secure with hot glue. Then, measure out the amount of rope you would like and wrap it around the ends of the top dowel, also securing with hot glue.

You’re done! Hang and enjoy!

What’s on your fall-favorites list? Is there anything I missed? I mean, I considered going on and on about pie but I only had so much string.

Happy stitching!
